I haven’t had much in the way of production since my last post, so yesterday I made “Lactation Cookies” to help with supply. These are the best cookies I have EVER baked – so moist and delicious! Here is my recipe:

Lactation Cookies – for boosting breastmilk supply.

MIX 2 tbsp flaxseed meal & 4 tbsp water, set aside 3-5 minutes.

CREAM 1 cup real butter & 1.5 cup Cane Sugar, adding 2 eggs one at a time.

STIR flaxseed mixture into the mix

ADD 1 tsp Vanilla.

BEAT until blended.

MIX 2 cups wheat flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 4 heaping tbsp BREWER’S YEAST this is the magical ingredient. Do NOT substitute Brewer’s Yeast with typical baking yeast, it is not the same.)

MIX & ADD 2 sliced bananas, 1 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup homemade applesauce, dark chocolate, 3 cups Oatmeal.

DROP onto cookie sheet

SPRINKLE with cinnamon

BAKE cookies 15 min @ 350 degrees.

Lactation Cookies

So, the day right after detailing my plan to breastfeed, I scored $120 worth of formula for $42!! The Boy Scout’s motto is “Always be prepared,” right? Well, if we end up needing it, we just saved a nice chunk of change. And if we don’t need it, we’re prepared to give a nice gift to someone else. In the meantime I’m celebrating the savings with a Happy Dance! 😉

Because I’m such a good Boy Scout…

Frustration at work has been extremely high lately. After one particularly trying event this morning, I ripped a paper towel off the roll, looked a coworker in the eye, said “This is how this job makes me feel,” and commenced to rapidly rip that paper towel into pieces.

Then we laughed. Hard.

And we felt so much better. The tension of the moment had dissipated.

That moment provided the spark of creative inspiration.

I’m going to make a “Destruction Bucket” and each time I need to release some frustration, I’ll rip to shreds some paper, then throw it into the Destruction Bucket. Once I have enough shreds, I’ll make paper mâché and create something out of the shreds of my frustration. I think this could be a great teaching tool for our kids, as well, as they learn how to work through their emotions as they grow and mature.

What a wonderful idea! It actually makes me thankful for having experienced the frustrations of the morning! 🙂

Run For Boston

Tomorrow, lace up with me and Run For Boston – let’s show our support for those affected by the Boston Bombings. Dress in blue or yellow, gather your friends, go for a run, take a pic and post it on the Run For Boston Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Run-For-Boston-417 … photos will be made into a coffee table book.

Though at times it can be so hard to just get out there and do it, once the run is done, it feels so good. Running – it’s good for the soul!
